hahah just

just wanted to vent a little. hah

well this weekend for me was... mediocre... and riddled with bad luck. don't get me wrong, it's not like i was pissed the entire weekend. but as a whole, it put me in a bad mood. thankfully monday, contrary to the common notion, helped put me back into an ok mood.

unfortunate things that are unfortunate: [a mortal disease]

friday - dizziness and vomit [tron]. brought me back to "memories" of the later half of the halloween party at hunters 2k8. a thousand thanks to lzo for not killing me for desecrating his car. but ain't nothin gonna hold back the mississip when those levees break.

saturday - miss a badass birthday party with good friends somewhere near 32nd street.
attend, but essentially miss, a party with korina/christine. end up passing out at 1am.
being a bad friend to like 8 people that night.
getting my glasses stepped on and bent at 3 in the morning.

sunday - while studying at night for a test on blackboard, have the power go out at my house because of the rain. no internet, no blackboard, no lights to read my text book.

ahhh yes. but monday slowly proved to lift my spirits a bit. looking forward to seeing "portugal the man" this weekend, and preferably not getting blitzed/'go tarded' (as palin would say)

if you see me 'fore you hear me, i got king kong in my trunk.
but seriously, 'nothing else matters' and be kind to me while i waste my effort.

"herro!"

last stretch of fall 09 semester. studying is slowly making it's way to the top of my priority list.
i ran into jose medina today. i always talk about school with him because he is also a history major. he said that the european civ professor is pretty tough, but putting energy into the class pays off. so i'm nervous, but excited. this semester should be interesting.

this is my class list for spring 2010:

GRG 3113 Geography of US & Canada
GRG 3133 Geography of Europe
HIS 2133 World Civ since 15th century
HIS 2563 European Civ
HIS 3803 World History in the Cinema which is from 7-9.45pm on mondays.

listening to "less boredan with jordan." he is really into hip hop now. but everything is enjoyable. especially the reggae/ska. [ohh and now Beirut]

i'll be in california from december 24-29. i think this is the shortest trip i've ever taken. but mostly i'll just be chillin with my family. oh and going down to Au Lac and getting some vegan pho!
this winter break should be pretty fun. let's get down y'all. richard'll be here soon! (i laugh at that contraction)

and not to announce this prematurely, but it is looking pretty good that i'll be backpacking in germany for a month this summer. mostly likely right after class ends. i'm really looking forward to speaking mostly german for a month. but i'll update y'all when i know more for sure.

and i heard Danzig play his last song.

After day two was over i walked down to the mohawk and saw "Free Moral Agents." This band has Ikey in it. the keyboardist for the mars volta. They were really good and they have a great female vocalist. Once they were done people started moving out of the small little room. I of course moved up. I briefly talked to Ikey as he was packing up his keyboard. He said that the show TMV played in san antonio recently was one of his favorite shows. He also said that he hopes they tour in Texas soon again, but that he has no control. "I wish i did the booking. I only play the keys though."
Then "Zechs Marquise" started to set up. This band has Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez, from TMV. And it has Marfred Rodriguez-Lopez on bass. (The brother of marcel and omar who plays guitar for TMV.) Very musical family. Very Cool. Marcos the guitarist has a wide array of pedals for his guitar. I was standing right in front of him and i helped him plug them all in. We talked a little. I had mentioned that i had seen them play a few months ago in SA. He thanked me for coming out to both the shows and for helping him set up. So then they played. Holy Fuck. So amazing. Best show of the weekend for me. After their hour and a half set i said adios to marcos and marcel and then walked back to russells apartment. Thanks again for always letting me crash, rus. My feet and ears were dead. But i had the best sleep of my life. haha

So we can conclude that I love live music.
Looking forward to next weekend for the twins birthday party. This is stupid, but I have dubbed it in my head, "you've got the Wong birthday party!"

"A still more glorious dawn awaits. Not a sun rise, but a galaxy rise."
look up Carl Sagan. Pretty good stuff.

mid day entry #2.87

so as usual, it's been a while since i've written.

last week the band i play in with rodney, Glass Mountains, played at hab's. it was ridiculously fun for me. I haven't performed in front of an audience in forever. RIP cello career. :( but this was the first time i played bass for an audience. it was mostly friends and family, but everyone seemed to enjoy the simple tunes we played. plus a few free dos xx helped the enjoyment.

i've been working at my job as valet. it's pretty enjoyable. most of the guys that work there are chill enough. i found out that one of my managers has two tattoos on his head. one of the confederate flag and one of a pot leaf. but apparently he has calmed down a bit. he wants to be a cop now. go figure.
i wish they would give me more hours during the week though. i've only been working on the weekends. but we'll see if i keep the job during school.

this friday i have another court appearance. i'm hoping that this whole thing is taken care of on friday. i would really like to keep my license. i can not speed ever again.

it is less than one month till our california vacation. i'm starting to get pretty excited about that. i called my cousin today to see what's up and try to finalize plans. but she was working.

i'd really like to go to enchanted rock, big bend, and that natural spring i was talking about.
e-rock is like a day thing, the natural spring is like 2 days, and big bend is many days so i'm not sure about that one.

my mom is gone for a while. so it's like living in an apartment by myself with no roomies. so i've been getting people to come out and hang. it's a nice change. i went running then swimming today. it's been so nice recently.
oh and hey. richard comes on saturday. let's not go to crown ridge please. ever.

i'm on the hunt to find 'fear and loathing' for under $30. is that so hard?

ps. we heard a baby kitten at my house last night!!

s a t u r d a y. NIGHT!

there are some things on my mind. but it is hard for me to verbalize.
it's mostly just the stupid crap that i think about too often, and over analyze.

i'll listen to what you have to say. just listen to what i have to say back.
silence from me is normal. but don't expect it.

sometimes i just want to drive from here to el paso, and back. the drive is amazing. that is truly texas.
plus there is this amazing man made pool that is connected and filled completely by a natural river. it is great. and at night the stars are so bright because it it out in the middle of no where.
(in the middle of here and el paso.)

i gave a "bum" a few bucks yesterday because his sign said, "traveling, anything will help get me through my journey." the light was really long, and i asked him where he was going. he said el paso, and i completely sympathized for his cause. he was just an old guy, trying to travel far away from here.
i almost never give "bums" money.

i've been vegetarian for 1 year and 4 months. i couldn't imagine it any other way now. but it is interesting to think about.
i'm trying to swear a bit less. i don't know how that is going to turn out.

i went to a hillel meeting with shaked. hillel is the national jewish student org.
anyway, there was a woman that talked about hebrew. the language is really fascinating, steeped in history and tradition.
my name in hebrew is natan. and is spelled נתן
anyone want to come over for passover next month and see my mom go crazy and drink wine?

good song.

intro:
Baby
I want to see you tonight
I know it’s late
I don’t want to fight
I’m at a party
Where am I? (Echo Park)
In Echo Park
The band has stopped playing
The keg is all dry

19 jahre alt. und ich habe eine lange schlange, danke.

I'm happy to be in texas at this stage in my life.
Home of tacos, lonestar beer, and having a rowdy time.

So lots of shows are coming up.
Thursday (maybe)
bayside/ratatat
Marley fest (the skatalites!)
cursive
the faint
animal collective
and a badass warped tour.
and I forgot how good 'a girl in a coma' is.

The streetlight manifesto show was damn good. And a wilhelm scream was kickin. I got to talk to the singer for a few minutes. He was drunk off his ass. part of our conversation:
"I’m from San Antonio."
"Oh yeah? I think were playing San Antonio next."
"Hmm, I don’t think so."
"Oh fuck. You're right. Were going to fucking Albuquerque. damn it."
Hahah

For my memories sake:
So this was a great birthday weekend!
Wednesday kicked off with veggie heaven and streetlight.

Thursday we ate Indian food at Taste of Malabar. Naaaan! Then went to shisha's to ring in my birthday. I learned how to play big 2. then tommy, cong, katie, and others came by.

Friday was a chill birthday. Had a brownie for lunch..thanks kev. Ate at pasha’s for dinner. They had heart shaped falafel’s. damn. Bilal knows what's up! Later in the night we got to hear Daniel drunk off his ass. And parties off of UTSA blvd always get busted. good timing when we left.

Saturday was Valentines day. Decided to get my ladies some flowers. Had dinner at gw. Then we went to calebs. We pulled a Michael phelps (haha. eric) and thus preceded to have heavy conversations with my best friends. I cried while driving. Damn.
Newcastle is only about 140 calories…worth it?
And I managed to have only one potato and egg taco.
Saturday really made me happy.

Sunday work was actually pretty good. Everyone seemed in a good mood. Luby was high as hell on pain killers. Then orange cup!

Thanks to Korina, Christine, and Meeshell. This weekend was great. Ya'll mean a lot to me.

I've been watching a shitload of Snl online. which, btw, has been pretty good recently. I’m on a boat motherfucker! I laughed so much at the sir-mix-a lot skit. Wow.

"i get stuck in my own thoughts and end up not being proactive." - windter's lj.

a lot of the time i get stuck in my own thoughts. i think it is because of how i was raised. plus i am an only child. i have no problem not talking to anyone or saying a word for hours. sometimes i feel like i could go days without verbalizing anything. but i don't like this when i am around people because i think they will feel that i am anti-social. but good friends who know what's up, know that sometimes no words are better than many words. and that's just the way i am sometimes.

well anyway, this was a pretty good weekend. friday was super cold and super high. i tell myself that i shouldn't smoke when it's late because that usually just makes me want to sleep 30 minutes later. but i enjoy it too much. so..
"is that pot?" - some guy
"dude, i think it's just KB." -christine
"No!" - some guy
"what did he mean?" - us.
mama margies drive through + bayside = mmm sleep. :)

saturday was ali's. as windter mentioned there was a lemonade mixed drink that equalled the 'death' for many.
is there some saying that when you mix vodka, beer, and citrus it makes you go cray-zay?
well anyway, the night was fun. i partied with sam adams for most of the night. i think it was either rus or korina that said i should "go for it cause i appreciate it." (referring to the sam adams.)
i got 50 fist-pounds in one minute from russell and daniel. it was by far the most i've ever received.
there was some nursing that i had to attend to, but it was legit. i got yo back if you need it.
i woke up with vomit all over the back of my shirt. mmm fried rice. :)

richard comes in this saturday. and the break will be badass.
i'm leaving for California on the 23rd and coming back on the 30th. i'm going to eat vegetarian vietnamese and dim sum when im up there. can't wait.
and hopefully there won't be a burn ban in bexar county so we can shoot fireworks off at my house for new years. hell yeah.
